Last orders called at well-known Derry bar Upstairs Downstairs

"It is with great sadness that we are having to write this post. As of tonight the Upstairs Downstairs Bar and Icon Restaurant and Winebar are no longer trading. We want to thank all our staff and customers over the years for all your support," the owners of the bar announced in a post on its official social media channels.

The announcement was met with sadness from locals who took to social media in droves to lament the closure of the pub.

"Really sorry to hear this Terry and I wish you all the best in whatever comes next for you, many a great night just like so many others," said one punter.

Another lamented: "Heartbreaking news Terry and staff. I wish you all every best for the future and after 24 years of being a customer, please know you will all be sorely missed."

"I've been going to the Stairs for 40 years. Gutted to hear this. Thanks for some great memories. Think I must have made about 99 per cent of my friends in here," said one local.
