Before the Requiem Mass, after the family left their home together for the final time, hundreds of people lined the streets of Moville to pay tribute and support Geraldine in her devastating loss.
Pupils from Scoil Eoghain and Moville Community College, as well as the groups in which the family were valued members, all joined in a Guard of Honour in a show of togetherness, at a time when circumstances have kept everyone apart.
Geraldine spoke of the tight-knit family’s last day together, a ‘lovely family day out’, - going to bowling, a film - Snow Queen, chosen by Amelia, who had her daddy and brother ‘wrapped around her finger’ - and dinner. It had been a ‘rare day off’ for John, and they had also spent the day picking out accessories for Amelia’s new room and wallpaper for her and John’s bedroom. They were heading home when tragedy struck and ‘Heaven gained three new angels.’
