Joe Bradley, his daughter Megan, and her partner Mark will embark on a skydive on September 27 in memory of Joe’s late wife and Megan’s stepmother, Geraldine, who passed away at Foyle Hospice last March.

Speaking about his beloved wife, Joe said: “She battled breast cancer for three years. Her self-belief and determination was just unbelievable.

“She was a beautiful human being, fearless, down to earth and cared so much about others. Her passing has taken away a huge presence in our lives and she will be forever loved and cherished in our hearts and minds.”

The trio are jumping 10,000ft in a bid to raise money for Foyle Hospice, after Geraldine used the service while fighting breast cancer.

The family initially aimed to raise £2,000 but have already smashed that target and hope to raise as much as they can for a service that provides so much more than medical treatment.

Joe said: “We were looking at various options and someone joked about skydiving, jumping out of a plane so we went with that. It was something we’d always thought about anyway, so that settled it.”

He also spoke of the support that the Foyle Hospice gave Geraldine and his family.

“The whole organisation is first class. Superb staff and a brilliant organisation. It’s a place nobody wants to go, but a place we need because cancer and these diseases aren’t going away.”

The family thanked everyone who has supported them and donated so far. Foyle Hospice also thanked the family, calling them ‘a true inspiration’.
