Martin McGuinness' family confirm Chieftain’s Walk will take place virtually in September
The event had been due to take place in March close to the Sinn Féin leader’s third anniversary. However, it had to be cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Now the organisers are planning to stage the event on September 6 in line with public health restrictions.

Hide AdA spokesperson for the Martin Mc Guinness Peace Foundation said: “We are delighted that we are now in a position to announce Sunday, September 6 as the date for the event to take place in a virtual format, with people asked to undertake their own local walks over the same distance.
“These walks should only involve small groups in line with public health restrictions and can take place at any time throughout the day.
“As ever, all those who register or donate - whether they can do the walk or not - will still receive a special memento of the day.
“Given the ongoing situation and the changing nature of the public health advice, it may yet be possible for participants to walk together but, for now, we are confident that the virtual format on September 6 will allow us all, near and far, to again remember our Chieftain.”
