Police see increase in vehicles and people ‘moving around’ Derry area

Police in Derry have reminded people to only travel for essential journeys after noticing an ‘increase’ in vehicles and people moving around the city today, Tuesday.

The PSNI reminded people that they are on patrol and have been speaking to people to remind them of ‘how we can all stay safe by adhering to NI Executive regulations.’

A spokesperson said: “We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that you should only travel for essential journeys.

If you are out for your daily exercise period please stay close to home and avoid popular beauty spots and open areas to avoid creating a large gathering. Please ensure you maintain social distancing. Thank you for playing your part.”

The police had thanked the public in recent days for adhering to regulations.
