Sandra Duffy welcomes confirmation of multi million pound investment to redevelop St. Brigid's College in Derry

Sinn Féin Councillor Sandra Duffy has welcomed confirmation of a multi million pound investment to redevelop St. Brigid's College in Derry.

Councillor Duffy said: "I am delighted that this much-needed investment has finally been approved by the Education Minister Paul Givan.

"Students and staff at St. Brigid’s have been dealing with inadequate facilities for many years now so there will be a huge sense of relief that the school is one of three post-primaries across the North which will now advance to design and planning stage as part of an overall package valued at over 200 million.

“Schools like St. Brigid's are in desperate need of redevelopment and I along with my party colleague Ciara Ferguson MLA have been pressing the Minister and the Department of Education to move forward with this redevelopment.

“It is welcome that we have now reached this point and we will continue to engage closely with all stakeholders to ensure we see work begin as soon as possible.”
