Tesla bids to develop high-power electric vehicle charging hub in Derry
Tesla has applied for permission to develop a high-power electric vehicle charging hub at the Lisnagelvin Retail Park in Derry’s Waterside.
Tesla Motors Ireland Limited., a local subsidiary of the American electric vehicle producer, has lodged an application with Derry City & Strabane District Council seeking permission to install eight electric vehicle charging bays and eight Tesla illuminated charging units.
If approved, the hub will be located in the corner of the retail park bounded by the Dungiven Road and Dennet Gardens in Irish Street.
A planning statement prepared by McArdle Doyle chartered engineers, architects and project managers, explains: “The proposed development will deliver the high-power charging infrastructure that is required by the modern electric vehicle consumer on a 24hr basis at a convenient location.”

It will, the statement, adds ‘provide high quality cross-brand compatibility charging delivered, maintained and operated by industry experts Tesla’.
Tesla currently has sixteen EV supercharging locations throughout Ireland.
