“Our daddy arrived home today after 13 days in ICU & seven days on a ventilator. Our daddy fought Covid 19 with all his heart and it has paid off.

“We are so, so happy to have him home to us in Burwood. Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers & thoughts, it’s been an emotional couple of weeks with highs and lows...but Donal B was happy to see the steps of Burwood. Thank you to the nurses & doctors that cared for our daddy... and thank you to our lovely neighbours & friends for the welcome home while keeping two metres apart per family. Keep safe everyone. “

Speaking to the Journal, Donal’s daughter, Julie, said the support of the community ‘really got us through.’

“Dad and the family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in Letterkenny and Galway who cared so much and got him through this. Also the support from family, neighbours and the whole town was amazing. Really got us through.”
