Western Trust celebrates Derry winners of Advancing Healthcare Awards

Kerry Quinn who won the Rising Star award is a dietitian based in Derry. Kerry was nominated by Linda Irwin, Dietetic Team Lead at Altnagelvin Hospital for her work with acute patients attending hospital and their families making a real difference to their lives.

The Award for Outstanding Leadership was won by a regional project including Joy Whelan, Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Dietitian based at Altnagelvin Hospital.

Joy Whelan explained: “The project team comprised gastroenterology dietitians regionally who developed Dietitian Led Coeliac Clinics and Irritable Bowel Syndrome Services in line with Regional Care Pathways to reduce the gastroenterology waiting lists and allowed redistribution of Consultant care to more urgent cases.”

Eileen Dolan, Interim Head of Allied Health Professions at the Western Trust said: “I am delighted with the success of our incredible AHP staff working across the Western Trust. It is a privilege to work along with such dedicated, innovative and committed healthcare professionals who continue to provide the highest standard of care and support to our patients and clients.”
