Youtuber Adam B’s ‘incredible’ gesture to Derry family going through the ‘darkest of times’

Bronagh Burke and her almost four-year-old children, Adam and Aoife, have experienced the ‘darkest’ of times in recent weeks following the sudden death of their much-loved husband and daddy, Thomas.

Youtube star Adam B (Adam Beales), who is also from Derry, brought some light and joy when he arrived at their home on Saturday.

He had previously reached out to his followers to nominate recipients for random acts of kindness locally. Bronagh and her twins were nominated by many friends and family and Adam B then reached out to her. He asked what toys the twins liked and told Bronagh he would visit the following Saturday. After delivering other special surprises to many delighted people via a special ice -cream van, he arrived at the Burke’s armed with ‘an amazing amount’ of toys for Adam and Aoife, who were already big fans of his. Bronagh was ‘stunned’ when he then presented her with a new Citroen C4.

“I genuinely never saw it coming. He is an absolute gentleman - so humble and genuine and his family are the loveliest, warmest people. It was just the most incredible gesture and for someone to reach out like that is just amazing. We could never express our thanks enough. It was like Christmas morning in our house. I can’t wait until everyone sees the video of us receiving all he gave us. The way he presented the car to me was amazing. We were all just stunned.”

Adam B himself was also stunned when Bronagh told him how his gift of a car came at the exact right time.

“Not many people knew, but I had to give up our family car a couple of weeks ago. It was a really painful thing to do and he couldn’t believe it when I told him. It was so touching and we are forever grateful.”

Adam B will release the video of the acts of kindness on his Youtube channel tomorrow, Wednesday. His channel has almost three million subscribers.

Meanwhile, over 2,000 birthday cards have been sent to Adam and Aoife, who will be four this Sunday, after a plea to do so went viral.

Bronagh asked if people could send the cards to out a smile on their faces as they celebrate their first birthday without their daddy. She was hoping to reach 100 cards, but as of last weekend, over 2,000 cards and presents have been sent, not just from Derry, but across the country and from as far away as Italy, Australia, New York and Spain.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Bronagh.

“We never thought we’d see 2,000 and there are still more coming in. The response has been incredible. Derry people really come together and show their support. We have been through some very tough days, but have seen such kindness. They’re counting down the days now to their birthday.”
