Police appeal over Derry assault

Police are appealing for information following an assault that occurred in the Broomhill Avenue area of Derry in the early hours of Thursday April 7

At approximately 3.20am, it was reported that a 34-year-old man was being assaulted by two other men. It is believed that all three men may have walked together from a bar in the Waterloo Street area. The two assailants made off on foot in the direction of Nelson Drive. The 34 year old man required hospital treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Constable Andrew Robinson said: “I would ask anyone who knows anything about this assault to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
