Police pulled to safety after becoming partly submerged at popular Derry beach

A PSNI patrol had to be pulled out of a stream on a popular Derry beach this week, it's emerged.

The liveried 4x4 utility vehicle became heavily submerged in a stream that was in spate at Downhill on Thursday.

A helpful member of the public towed the police vehicle out of the water as Mussenden Temple stood sentry on the bluff overlooking the beach.

"Whilst on patrol at Downhill beach in Limavady yesterday morning a police vehicle got into difficulty. The vehicle was helped out of the water by a member of the public. We thank them for their assistance," the PSNI said.
