Police seek vandals who damaged day care centre

The PSNI say that sometime between 5pm-10pm on Wednesday May 11, a flower pot was thrown through the window of a day centre and slates were taken off a roof. On the same night a fence was damaged at a nursery and just before 9pm police attended the report of youths on the roof of a nursing home. When police attended the youths, who were both male and female, made off on foot.

Then sometime between the evening of Wednesday, May 11 and the morning of Thursday May 12, sheeting was removed from the day centre.

Firstly, this is dangerous behaviour. Being on a roof without knowing what you are doing or without taking proper safety precautions could result in someone being seriously injured or worse. Police would urge parents and guardians to make sure they know where there children are, what they are doing and to talk to them about the danger of getting caught up in this type of activity and the possible outcomes they could face if they are found committing any offence.

Young people should also be reminded of the consequences of their actions when they get involved in this type of behaviour. What might seem like fooling about can often result in a criminal record which can affect travel, education and employment opportunities in the future.
