There were 971 mobilisations by Donegal Fire Brigades in 2019 - 139 of them over November and December.

In total, there were 819 fire brigade incidents in Donegal last year. The Donegal Fire Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has a long-held agreement on cross-border mobilisations during fire incidents.

Last year, following concerns that Brexit would impact on this, the Donegal Fire Service told the Journal that, through the Cross Border Fire Chief’s Forum, Donegal County Council’s Fire Service was engaging with colleagues from NIFRS on any potential impacts the UK EU Exit might have on the ‘existing cross-border arrangements.’

They added how, collectively they were ‘committed’ to the continuation of their long standing service level agreements with regard to service delivery, joint training and other areas of joint working. At that stage, they did not envisage any significant impact on ‘current service delivery arrangements’ and said that any potential shared impacts are ‘being discussed and planned for accordingly.’

The figures presented at the meeting also showed that in 2019 in Donegal, there were also 14 fire safety complaints received, all of which were dealt with.
