The Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs who has also served as the Minister of Health will replace First Minister Arlene Foster as the DUP leader when she steps down on May 28.

He received 19 votes from the DUP electoral college to Jeffrey Donaldson's 17.
