Ex-Minister for Security and Tory chairman Brandon Lewis is new Secretary of State

Brandon Lewis has been appointed as the new Secretary of State.

The former Conservative Party chairman who most recently served as British Prime Boris Johnson's Minister of State for Security and Deputy for EU Exit and No Deal Preparation said he was pleased with the new role.

"I am honoured to have been appointed Secretary of State for Northern Ireland by the Prime Minister. This is an exciting time for Northern Ireland and I follow fantastic colleagues as predecessors, whose work I hope we can continue to build on," said the MP for Great Yarmouth.
