'˜Red Letter Day' in Burt

The annual calendar is always hugely popular each year it is released and this year’s programme proved no exception.

It is not only a ‘must have’ for homes around the parish of Burt, Inch and Fahan but is also hanging proudly across the world in homes which have a strong connection to the local area.

This year, sales of the calendar, which were priced at five euro, raised an impressive €3,630.

These funds will be divided equally between two charities, the BUMBLEance Children’s Ambulance Service and St. Aengus’ Church in Burt.

The organiser of the calendar, Kathleen Grant from Burt, told the ‘Journal’ she was “truly delighted” with this result.

She recently handed over cheques to delighted representatives from the St. Aengus’ Church Committee, Fr.Brendan Crowley CC, Burt/Inch Paddy Campbell, Colette Burke and Margaret Campbell.

The calendar featured stunning pictures from across the parish, highlighting its breathtaking beauty.

Kathleen said that as the calendars “hang in parish home, our neighbouring parishes and indeed in many parts of the world, what a great opportunity it is to promote our homeland and for our exiles to enjoy the photographs too.”

Kathleen wishes to extend a sincere thanks to all who supported this venture.

She also expressed “deep appreciation” to the calendar’s sponsors, local shops, media and photographers as well as the local community “for your continued support to me.”

Kathleen also issued “a sincere thank you” to Lily Elder for her time and help with this fundraiser.
