Roma Downey ‘On a Wing and a Prayer’ with Dennis Quaid with filming on new picture to start in Atlanta in June
One of Derry’s most famous exports Roma Downey has confirmed she is teaming with actor Dennis Quaid to make a new Christian-themed film ‘On A Wing And A Prayer.’
The new film will be produced by Lightworkers media, the film and TV company the Derry actress founded with her husband Mark Burnett, and MGM.
“I am producing a new movie! It’s to shoot in Atlanta in June,” she told the ‘Journal.’
The Beechwood Avenue native, who rose to prominence after playing Jacqueline Kennedy in TV mini-series ‘A Woman Named Jackie’ and became a household name in the United States when she starred as ‘Monica’ in the hit drama series ‘Touched by an Angel’, said she was ‘super excited’ to be working with Golden Globe nominated Hollywood actor Quaid.
In Roma’s latest production the ‘Far From Heaven’, ‘Traffic’ and ‘The Big Easy’ star will play the lead role of Doug White as a plane passenger forced to perform an emergency landing after the death of a pilot.
“‘On a Wing And a Prayer’ is a gripping take on a very real survivor story and illuminates the remarkable power of the human spirit. Doug White is the definition of a hero. We are thrilled to partner with Mark, Roma and Autumn, and couldn’t have asked for a better star in Dennis to bring this unbelievable true story to life,” said MGM Motion Picture Group chairman Michael De Luca and president Pamela Abdy in a statement.
