School charity day forNiamh McCloskey's Brighter Future Fund

Termoncanice PS presented a cheque for £500 to the McCloskey family after holding a ’Festive Accessory day’.

“The proceeds from our accessory day have been donated to Niamh McCloskey’s Brighter Future Fund,” said Principal, Christina Doherty.

“This charity is very close to our hearts, as Niamh was a much loved former pupil who passed away earlier last year. Niamh was diagnosed with Moyamoya, an extremely rare brain-related condition. It was a terrible shock to the whole Termoncanice family, with staff who had taught her being particularly hard hit.

“Her younger brother, Michael, attends Termoncanice, and has been so brave since his sister passed away. He is an inspiration to us all.

“Niamh’s “Brighter Future Fund” was set up to raise money for the setting up of a room for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Niamh was treated. We’re very happy to support this cause, and we know that Niamh would have loved the fun and sparkle of the Festive Accessory Day .”

Mrs Doherty added: “It’s a fitting way for us to remember such a warm, kind hearted girl who was the winner of our “Sunshine Award” in her P7 year here at Termoncanice.”
