Seamus Heaney: three years after his death and still touching lives
Heaney was 74 years-old when he died on August 30, 2013.
A former pupil of St. Columb’s College in Derry, Heaney touched the lives of people all over the world.
Deputy First Minister and Sinn Fein MLA for Foyle, Martin McGuinness, simply tweeted ‘walk on air, against your better judgement’, which is inscribed on Heaney’s gravestone in Bellaghy, Co. Derry.

Hide AdIrish musician Hozier tweeted a video of Seamus Heaney reading perhaps one of his most well known poems ‘Digging’ and called on his ‘followers’ “Go on, have a listen to him”.
Well known Brooklyn based Bulgarian writer, Maria Popova, urged people to celebrate and remember the “power of his poetry”.
