Storm Henry hits Derry's Dunelm store

The Fire Service attended the scene and cordoned off the area.

One person at the scene said it was “fortunate noone was killed.”

The eighth storm since the decision to name them has brought strong winds and gusts of up to 80 miles per hour throughout today.

Hours before the storm was expected to peak, ESB has reported widespread power outages in County Donegal after the arrival of Storm Henry.

Met Éireann has issued an Orange wind warning which came into effect at 10pm on Sunday, and will remain in place until midnight tonight.

Winds will peak during this afternoon and evening and will be at their strongest along the coasts, according to Met Éireann.

A weather alert has been issued for areas along the Atlantic coast, warning that waves could reach heights of between 12 to 15 metres.

Once again, the west and north west of Ireland will bear the brunt of the storm which is expected to cause more damage just days after Storm Gertrude brought down trees and power lines.
