'˜Terry Wogan bought me flapjacks'

Martin, 33, is from Kingsfort Park in Derry and has just recently returned from a tour of the South Pacific with Simon Cowell’s ‘Jack Pack’.

Limerick born, Wogan was a big fan of ‘Jack Pack’ and had championed their self-titled debut album on his BBC Radio Two programme ‘Weekend Wogan’. Martin and the rest of ‘Jack Pack’ were studio guests in one of Wogan’s final shows in October before he stopped due to ill health on November 8. Terry Wogan was 77 years-old when died.

“It’s a very sad time indeed,” Martin told the ‘Journal’.

“It was an honour to work with Sir Terry recently, he was so kind and supportive and bought flapjacks for us all.

“Sir Terry was such a legend throughout our whole lives on TV and radio. RIP Sir Terry,” added Martin.

Martin went on to describe meeting Terry Wogan and performing live on his radio show as “an absolute honour”.

“I remember meeting him back when we did Hyde Park before we went on his show and for me he was the guy who voiced ‘Stop it’ and ‘Tidy Up’ and the ‘Eurovision’,” said Martin.

“Terry Wogan was a massive part of my childhood. To meet him and perform on his BBC Radio 2 show, which was an institution on a Sunday, was an absolute honour. He was such a gentleman, always encouraging and very down to earth.”
