Frankie McMenamin said all those involved in realising the £2.4m project were to be commended ahead of the new Glenfada Park facility being opened to the public.

Mr. McMenamin, who has donated items to the museum and conducted research for the project, said: “I want to congratulate everyone on the opening and I wish them all the best. People like Adrian Kerr, John Kelly, Jean Hegarty among others have worked very hard over the last number of years to build it up.

“It is a great museum that is telling the story of the struggle of the community and what they went through over the last 40 years.”

Mr. McMenamin pointed out that the museum, prior to its redevelopment, had already attracted a wide range of people from all countries and backgrounds, as well as A-list stars such as Will Ferrell.
