‘Train the Trainer’ course at Serenity House

There is a ‘Train the Trainer’ course on this month. Are you interested in becoming a tutor in further education? This course is for those involved in the training of adults. It may also assist graduates who aspire to become teachers or have responsibilities for the training of employees.

Moville Mental Health Association activities during October include a Step-on-it walk for mental health October 19 at 11am All walkers welcome, a Coffee morning in the Cosy Cottage on October 22 9am to 2.30pm.

There will be a ‘Sale of Work’ including crafts and a variety of items October 24 11 to 4pm.

Inishowen Development Partnership in Collaboration with Bernician Studies Group /Lands of Éogain Project, are delivering an Inishowen Heritage Autumn School Training course in “Early Medieval Lives and Landscapes” starting October 27 to 30 at the office of Inishowen Development Partnership, Buncrana. While we are targeting  young unemployed graduates who have a degree in history or archaeology we would be keen to offer places to young unemployed adults who do not have a degree (18 years to 35 years) who would have and interest in history/archaeology and would like to develop their knowledge of Inishowen History with a view to doing further studies in the future to enhance their careers. The purpose of the course is to explore the potential for destination tourism on the peninsula and to explore models for community heritage initiatives, further training and involvement in future research programmes in 2016.

The programme will be of mixed lectures, workshops and a field trip over four days and will introduce graduate participants to the context and potential of Inishowen’s unique Early Medieval landscape, culture and history. The focus is on the setting and interpretation of archaeological remains, the resources and power structures of elites and ecclesiastical settlements in the centuries between Patrick (5 century) and the rise of the Cenél Éogain in the 8 century. This is a key period in European history, in which Inishowen plays a significant role.
