Two more Altnagelvin COVID-19 admissions with 6.19% capacity left at Derry hospital

Two more people were admitted to Altnagelvin with COVID-19 yesterday, according to the latest daily update from the Department of Health.

A man in his 50s and woman in her 60s were admitted to the Derry hospital on Monday.

At midnight on Monday 43 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across Western Trust hospitals.

Six of 12 (50%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; two (16.67%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and four (33.33%) were free.

Six ICU patients in total were being ventilated - four were COVID-19 patients and two were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 9.91% of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 80.50% were ‘other occupied’ and the hospital had 6.19% capacity left in the system: 3.41% were ‘awaiting admission.’

There have been no new deaths from COVID-19. In total 133 people have died with the coronavirus since the pandemic reached Derry/Strabane.
