Coronavirus: 120 cases (2%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 313

One hundred and twenty cases (2%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Monday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Wednesday there have been 7413 confirmed cases in Ireland - 6074 in the south and 1339 in the north.

Three hundred and thirteen people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 235 in the south and 78 in the north.

The latest data for Donegal released tonight but referring only to cases that had been analysed up until midnight on Monday show there have now been 120 cases in the county (2% of all cases in the 26 counties).

Today’s data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, reveal that as of midnight, Monday, April 6, 2020, (5,981 cases), reveals that 46% are male and 53% are female, with 299 clusters involving 1,288 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 48 years and 1,472 cases (25%) have been hospitalised

Of those hospitalised, 224 cases have been admitted to ICU.

A total of 1,568 cases are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 120 confirmed cases (2%), a rise of six from 114 on Sunday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 3,268, (55% of all cases) followed by Cork with 431 cases (7%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 67%, close contact accounts for 23%, and travel abroad accounts for 10%.
