Coronavirus: 125 cases (1.9%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 345

One hundred and twenty-five cases (1.9%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Tuesday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Thursday there were 8051 confirmed cases in Ireland - 6574 in the south and 1477 in the north.

Three hundred and forty-five have now died from the illness in Ireland. 263 in the south, 82 in the north.

The latest data for Donegal released this evening but referring only to cases that had been analysed up until midnight on Tuesday show there have now been 125 cases in the county (1.9% of all cases in the 26 counties).

Today’s data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, reveal that as of midnight, Tuesday, April 7, 2020, (6,444 cases), reveals 45% are male and 53% are female, with 317 clusters involving 1391 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 48 years and 1,521 cases (24%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 230 cases have been admitted to ICU.

And 1,765 cases are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 125 confirmed cases (1.9%), a rise of five from 120 on Monday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 3557 (55% of all cases) followed by Cork with 472 cases (7%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 67%, close contact accounts for 24%, and travel abroad accounts for 9%.
