Coronavirus: 437 COVID-19 cases in Donegal as total Irish death toll rises to 1,357

The Department of Health in Belfast confirmed on Saturday that a further sixteen people have sadly lost their lives while its counterpart in Dublin reported 52 more deaths.

This brings the total number of deaths in Ireland to 1,357 - 294 in the north and 1,063 in the south.

There have now been 21,787 confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Ireland - 3,226 in the north and 18,561 in the 26 counties.

A geographical breakdown of data provided by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre in Dublin reveal that, as of midnight, Thursday, April 23 (17,975 cases), 437 (2.4%) had been in Donegal.

Last Monday it had been confirmed that as of Sunday 15 people in Derry and Strabane had died and that 124 people had tested positive. Due to an error in the dashboard, however, no new data for the area has been released since then.
