Coronavirus: 458 cases of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises by 52 to 1,630

Over 1,600 people have now died in Ireland after developing COVID-19 with 52 new deaths reported across the island on Friday.

There have now been 1,630 Irish deaths from COVID-19 in total - 365 in the north and 1,265 in the south.

Today the Department of Health in Belfast reported 18 new deaths in hospitals while its southern counterpart reported 34 additional fatalities.

The number of patients to have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ireland has now risen to 24,456 with the positive case total in the north now at 3,623. The southern total increased to 20,833.

This evening it was confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases in Donegal had risen to 458 (2.2 per cent of all cases in the south). The Donegal data was released today but is accurate up until midnight on Wednesday.
