Coronavirus: Nine laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Derry and Strabane

Nine laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Derry and Strabane, according to the latest Public Health Agency (PHA) data.

As of 11.20 a.m. on Friday, March 27, testing had resulted in 34 new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the north to 275

To date, thirteen people who have tested positive in the north have sadly died, with three new confirmed deaths since Thursday's daily bulletin.

The latest daily surveillance report shows that over the previous 24 hours there had been 298 more tests.

Nine confirmed cases have been reported in Derry and Strabane compared with 86 in Belfast.

There have been five lab confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

However, of the 3716 tests in the north sofar 411 have been conducted in the Western Trust, the lowest number of tests in any health authority, compared with 1,549 in the Belfast Trust, the highest number of tests.

Cases are predominantly clustered within the Belfast area with 39 cases in Lisburn and Castlereagh, 29 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon and 25 in North Down and Ards.

There have now been 2095 confirmed cases in Ireland - 1819 in the south and 275 in the north.

Thirty-two people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 19 in the south and 13 in the north.
