East Derry MP Gregory Campbell to sit on Northern Ireland Affairs Committee at Westminster again

East Derry MP Gregory Campbell will sit on the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee for another parliamentary term at Westminster.

Membership of the NIAC was agreed in London this this week. The DUP MP is one of four Irish MPs who will sit on the scrutiny committee, alongside Stephen Farry (Alliance), Claire Hanna (SDLP) and Ian Paisley (DUP).

Conor McGinn, who was born in South Armagh and whose father Pat is a former Sinn Féin Mayor of Newry, is one of two Labour MPs who will sit on the committee.

The other is Karin Smyth, an MP for Bristol South.

The rest of the committee are Conservatives. Bob Stewart, who served in Derry as a British Army infantry company commander at the time of the Droppin Well bombing in Ballykelly in 1982, is one of these.

The chair of the committee Simon Hoare, as well as Caroline Ansell, Scott Benton and Robert Goodwill are also Tories.
