Hit Lisa McGee-penned sitcom Derry Girls is named third most ‘bingeable’ TV show

Derry Girls has been named the third most ‘bingeable’ TV show in the world.

New research took scores from a range of series including The Wire, The Sopranos, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Queen’s Gambit and Derry Girls was top of the pile.

OLBG analysed audience and critic ratings and placed the Lisa McGee-penned comedy behind Please Like Me and Freaks and Geeks in third place with a 97.5% score.

“The shortest boxset in our top three, Derry Girls follows the lives of five high school students as they work their way through common problems faced by teenagers everywhere while living through the political conflict of Northern Ireland in the 1990s.

“A laugh-out-loud comedy that will be sure to brighten your evening or weekend binge, catch all seasons on Netflix today,” said OLBG.

According to the research the average critic score for Derry Girls (98.5%) was higher than the average audience score (96.5%).

Please Like Me and Freaks and Geeks - also both comedy series - each received the highest possible average critic score with 100%.

Among the top 20 ‘bingeable’ series, the Chernobyl disaster drama received the highest audience score with 98%. The lowest critic score, meanwhile, was for The Sopranos (92.7%) while the lowest audience score was for Catastrophe (91.8%).
