Michelle O'Neill calls for school and college closures in the North to delay coronavirus spread

The Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill has called for all schools and colleges in the North to be closed as part of efforts to delay the spread of the coronavirus.

The Sinn Féin vice-president broke with official Executive policy on Friday saying the North should follow the steps taken by the Dublin Government on Thursday when it announced schools, creches and universities would be closed until the end of March at least.

"As of today many European countries have taken action In the South, schools are closing and gatherings cancelled I have spoken to sporting organisations, schools and parents.

"People are concerned. Now is the time to take action in the North to close schools, universities and colleges," she said.
