'˜Up the ante' on Inishowen 100

Calls have been made to bring greater attention to the Inishowen 100 tourist route.

Speaking at Tuesday’s meeting of the Inishowen Municipal District in Carndonagh, councillor Bernard McGuinness said he doesn’t believe the route is “getting enough attention or being flagged up by tourist agencies”.

“I think we have to up the ante on it. The Inishowen 100 is as good as, if not better than the Ring of Kerry. It’s a great thing, and it’s only when people travel the Wild Atlantic Way route they realise they can drive around the peninsula.

“The name Inishowen 100 says it all. It needs to be flagged up. People are constantly using it, and we’re not giving it the due attention,” he said.

Council officials said the matter will be referred to the tourism department.
