WATCH: Reckless driving on Strand Road caught on camera

There was widespread uproar last week after a video appearing to show a car being driven recklessly on the Strand Road was posted on a social media website.

SDLP Councillor for the area, Shauna Cusack, lambasted those responsible.

“I have contacted the PSNI and they have confirmed that they are currently investigating the incident concerning the silver Renault Megane which was also detected driving recklessly around Galliagh,” said Colr. Cusack.

“At this stage no car fitting the description has been reported stolen. I would urge anyone with any information to report it as soon as possible, as someone with this irresponsible attitude to road safety and the lives of others should be taken off the road immediately.”

Colr. Cusack added: “I would ask that residents and the public do not jump to conclusions and assume that this is a member of the car fraternity, who are responsible drivers and respect their vehicles and the residents.”
