Work of Stuart Cairns and Katy English showing at Roe Valley Arts Centre

The work of Stuart Cairns is on display at the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre.

A Language of Landscape by Stuart Cairns is exhibited in both Keady and Broighter Galleries and Drawing as Exploring by Katy English is displayed in the Ritter Gallery.

Desima Connolly, Arts & Cultural Services Officer said: “Celebrating our relationship with nature, these exhibitions by two high profile contemporary artists could not be more apt considering the world renowned landscape and scenic beauty of the Causeway Coast and Glens area.”

Artist and silversmith, Stuart Cairns, combines natural materials and found objects to create artefacts in the tradition of tableware, tools and domestic objects.

The work of Katy English is exhibited at the Arts Centre.

In 2014, Stuart was awarded the first Rosy James Memorial Craft Bursary and he is currently exhibiting at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London as part of Silverspeaks, a celebration of silversmithing.

Stuart has also exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery, London, and in many international arts venues. He is a member of the British Designer Silversmiths and a part-time lecturer in the University of Ulster.

Dividing her time between London and the Glens of Antrim, Katy English’s work consistently refers to the North Antrim landscape that she loves. Using drawing to investigate the natural world, both seen and unseen, Katy has exhibited throughout the UK as well as being awarded multiple public sculpture commissions.
