DARTS: Host club claims inaugural Mailey's Cup victory

Hosts Mailey's Bar were fittingly crowned the inaugural Mailey's Cup champions after defeating the Carriag Bar 4-2 on a thrilling finals night in the Estate Services Friday Night Darts League's newest addition to it trophy cabinet.

The winners had got the better of the Cosh 4-3 in a very tight semi-final clash earlier in the night while Carraig qualified for the final courtesy of a similarly tight last four victory over the Brandywell in the other semi-final, also 4-3.

The fastest game of the evening came from the Cosh Inn’s Martin McCloskey with two 15 dart legs against Derek Gallagher.

The committee placed on record their thanks to the host bar and to James Clancy for the sponsorship of the competition and support on the night, Organisers also paid tribute to all the markers and callers who help make the first Mailey’s Cup finals night such a successful evening of darts.

Meanwhile, the final league games in the Estate Services Friday Night League take place this week and the draw is as follows;

Brandywell v Carraig (to be played in Mailey’s)

Oak v Phoenix

Fairview v Maileys

Mary Bs v Tracey’s

Georges v Cosh

The draw for the Bottom 5 and Top 5 Cups to be played in George’s and the Carraig respectively takes place on Monday, June 13th with fixture to be played on June 17th. This competition will bring the cutain down on the 2015/16 season with the League AGM due to take place on June 20th in George’s Ba. All club representatives are requested to attend.

The points tallies going into the final game are as follows; Mailey’s - 198; Cosh - 194; Phoenix - 168; Carraig - 141; Tracey’s - 133; Mary Bs - 132; Fairview - 131; George’s Bar - 123; Brandywell - 120; Oak - 63.
