On Saturday, September 5, 1987, Arsenal FC arrived at the Brandywell for a glamour friendly against Derry City.

The visiting ‘Gunners’ side included Niall Quinn,Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Alan Smith, Michael Thomas and David O’Leary.

Arsenal won the game 2-0 with Alan Smith and Paul Merson with the goals.
