Bradley admits he had admired the Derry man from afar before working on prising him away from his hometown club at the end of the 2018 season.

McEneff (25) has enjoyed his best season for Rovers and completed the full set of League of Ireland honours when winning the league title in convincing style this year.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur man has emerged as a key player for the champions Bradley is delighted to have him.

"I always felt when we watched Aaron from afar when he was at Derry, we always wanted him," he admitted.

"I always felt we could make him a better player and to be fair to Aaron he's just grown and grown.

"For me he's the best all round midfielder in the country. I don't think there's anyone who can do what Aaron does. He does everything.

"He's really, really fit, he scores goals, he defends, tackles and creates. As an all-round midfielder I don't think there's a better player in the country."

As Rovers attempt to extend their unbeaten league run when Derry City arrive in Tallaght for the penultimate game of the season, Bradley expects McEneff to play a key role once again.

"He's just become a real leader for the club and the group. He's a fantastic personality and obviously a top player. We're delighted to have him.

"What's really pleasing is Aaron's hunger to keep improving every day. He's always working on things and that's important."
