Celtic legend Tommy Gemmell passes away

Celtic legend and '˜Lisbon Lion', Tommy Gemmell, has died aged 73.

Gemmell passed away after a long-term illness, reported Celtic on Thursday.

Gemmell became an instant legend with Celtic fans when he scored the equalising goal in the Hoops’ 2-1 European Cup Final victory over Italian side, Inter Milan, in 1967.

Born in Motherwell in 1943, Gemmell signed for Celtic from junior side, Coltness United in 1961.

After 10 years at Celtic, Gemmell enjoyed spells at Nottingham Forrest, Miami Toros and Dundee.

A seasoned left-back, Gemmell won 18 international caps for Scotland from 1966 to 71.
