Derry City fans will see the best of James Akintunde in 2021: Declan Devine

James Akintunde returns to Brandywell for 2021.

Declan Devine believes Derry City will see the best of striker James Akintunde this season after the Englishman agreed to return to the club this week.

Akintunde netted four times in 13 outings for the Candy Stripes last season but his attitude and workrate impressed City boss, Declan Devine most.

The 24 year-old Londoner put pen to paper on a one year deal this week and Devine hopes, with a full preseason behind him the club will see his best form.

“James did a brilliant job for us after the re-start last season even though he would say himself he wasn’t fully fit when he arrived.”

“Once again he’s a player we know plenty about and he has the attitude and desire to do well for this club.

“He trains well and is a pleasure to work with and although he had other options I’m delighted he has decided to come back.”

“In my opinion James has a huge part to play for this club in 2021 and I have no doubt that our supporters will see plenty of him throughout the season.”
