The service, which will show at least 55 live match throughout the season, is available free for all season ticket holders and great value at €55 for non-season ticket holders.

James O’Toole, who is part of RTE’s production team, gives Derry fans an insight to what is available throughout the service this season.

“Over the last year and a half, during RTE’s ‘Friday Night Football’ coverage they have put IP boxes into all the grounds and we get highlights instantly. It kind of made sense with the infrastructure already there thanks to the GAAGO platform we have already in place, so, with fans not being able to attend games this is the easy way.

“When people start talking about how much it costs and who’s doing what but at €55 for the whole season - which is all your club’s Premier Division games, every single Premier Division game and also a player (playback) service which means you’ll be able to watch the game again if you miss the original live broadcast, we believe that’s great value.

“There will also be FAI Cup games live on the service. For instance, the first round’s opening three games are going to be part of the service.

“There will be commentators at all grounds at this weekend’s games and there will also be two cameras at every game with replays during the matches.

“So the whole package will be there and it’s up to people now to have a look and see if it’s worth it. Hopefully we get it right on our end, so people at the other end say that this is a quality package and it’s worth the €1 per game.”
