DERRY CITY: Kenny Shiels opens talks with ex-Celtic winger Paddy McCourt
The talented ex-Celtic midfielder, cut ties with League Two outfit Luton Town last month and has returned home to Derry.

Hide AdAnd now it’s emerged a return to his old stomping ground could be a real possibility as Shiels initiated informal talks this week.
McCourt has personal issues and can’t play until the July Transfer Window opens so Shiels isn’t pressing the Shantallow man on an answer.
“We’ve just spoken with Paddy McCourt. We’ve spoken over the phone but Paddy has a few personal problems he has to deal with first so we’re not going to do anything until he’s ready.

Hide Ad“Paddy has personal family commitments to deal with first before he can think about further talks about joining Derry City and we have to respect that.
“I don’t want to pester him on football matters at the moment. His family is his priority.
We will speak further towards the middle of June and we’ll have further discussions then.

Hide AdHe can’t play until July so we’ll not be pushing him on it. That’s as far as it’s gone at the moment.
“Paddy’s one we feel would be a good acquisition for us and if that evolves it would be fantastic for us.”
