The 21-year-old left sided defender isn’t available for tomorrow night’s clash against Cork City because of quarantine protocols, but Derry boss Declan Devine was thrilled to get cover for that side of his defence, especially as Ally Gilchrist will be missing for the next few weeks with an ankle injury.

“We have added to our squad by bringing in Cameron, who was at Stoke City last year,” revealed Devine.

“He played a lot of Under 23 games. He’s a left sided centre-back who can also play left-back and he’ll certainly fill that void that will be left by Ally over the coming weeks.

“Ally is out for a couple of weeks but after seeing a specialist during the week, his injury isn’t severe as we first thought so he’s the only player at this moment in time who’s missing.

James Akintunde is back in the squad. He trained today, so everyone is fit apart from Ally.”

Devine wants his players to be fully focused for tomorrow evening’s clash against the Rebel Army.

“The most important thing all this week is getting three points on Friday night. That has been the most important factor in the whole process this week and it has been right from the minute we finished at Shelbourne,” added Devine.

“We have shown the players everything that we expect from Cork.

“They came up today to prepare really well for the game, on the back of a fantastic run themselves, where they have played three games, won two and drew the other and haven’t conceded a goal in any of those matches.”
