Derry City will resume season behind closed doors

Derry City have confirmed that no fans will attend this Friday's home clash against Sligo Rovers, as the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division 2020 season resumes.

A statement from Derry City & Strabane District Council on Tuesday morning confirmed the news.

"Only players, support staff, medical personnel, board members of both clubs, council staff, stewards and media will be able to attend," said the statement.

The council added that it would review the issue "on a daily basis".

The club also released a statement this morning saying: "The Derry City Board have reviewed the guidelines issued by the N.I. Executive and separately by the FAI and have decided the match against Sligo Rovers on Friday evening shall take place behind closed doors.

"Fortunately, the SSE Airtricity League has implemented a streaming system and all matches (games broadcast on eirSport will not feature on the WATCHLOI streaming platform), home and away, will be available at watchloi.ie where you can sign up now.

"Our season ticket holders will have free access to this system and many fans have already requested and received the technical requirements to avail of this facility.

"Anyone still not registered to receive their streaming code please follow the instructions here.

"The codes need to be requested no later than midday Thursday 30th July to allow us time to process the applications and for users to get setup ahead of Friday’s kick-off.

"If you are a season ticket holder and have applied already but have yet to receive a code, please email [email protected] with your details.

"Please note that our office is currently closed due to the unavailability of the Brandywell."
