The City manager's contract was due to expire at the end of October and there had been some speculation about his future in recent weeks which was quickly put to bed by the Creggan man.

Following talks with the club Chairman, Mr Philip O'Doherty this evening, the club announced Devine has signed an extension which will keep him in the Brandywell hotseat until at least the end of the 2021 campaign.

The move comes ahead of three massive games inside 10 days which include a home clash with Cork City in the league, a Europa League qualifier against FK Riteriai and an FAI Cup second round tie against Drogheda United.

Speaking this evening, the manager said he was delighted to commit his future to Derry City.

“I said recently that I set out to do a job here and I intended to see it through and I’m delighted to have the trust of the Chairman and the Board.

“I love managing Derry City and along with the rest of the management team we have put so much work into moving the club forward.
