After two scoreless draws on the bounce, Declan Devine’s troops travel to high flying Bohemians tonight hoping to rediscover their knack of scoring goals. (K.o. 7.45p.m.)

The Candy Stripes can ill afford to lose further ground in the race for European qualification but Meite is confident the team can strike the right balance between defence and attack to ensure they return from Dalymount Park with three vital points.

“Yeah, 100 per cent we need to improve our attacking play and we’ve been working on it in training,” said the former Cardiff City and Crawley Town striker.

“Hopefully we can turn that around and add more goals to our game.

“I feel like the team’s focus a few weeks back was keeping clean sheets and trying to defend as a team.

“Now we’ve been working on attacking as a team. It’s all about finding the right balance and I feel we can and I’m confident the goals will come.”

Meite scored from the penalty spot on his debut in the 1-1 draw against Shelbourne at Tolka Park in mid-August but hasn’t managed to find the net since.

He’s appeared isolated up top on his own during the last two performances and admits to being frustrated at times.

However, he feels he’s now settled into the League of Ireland after six games for City and is desperate to add to his goal tally in the coming weeks.

“Sometimes it can be hard being up there on your own but I feel the gaffer has it right now and we’re focusing on better link-up play up top.

“We’ve got the defensive part sorted now and we can start looking to get more goals.

“I know the goals will come so I’m not worried about that. It’s a team game, obviously it’s not a one man game and we’ve been working hard on it in training and hopefully it will pay off on Friday.

“It’s frustrating for me not getting enough chances but hopefully the hard work pays off now in the next two or three games and I can get my goals up.

“It’s hard being new and being thrown into a lot of games in a short period of time but I’ve settled in quite well. I’m feeling happy and just need to kick on and get more goals.

“I’m taking every game as it comes but there’s pressure on us all. I need to start getting my goals up, start kicking on and hopefully finish the season with a few more goals.

“I expect a tough game (against Bohs) but every game is tough. I feel like we’re prepared but we just want to stat kicking on now and get a win against Bohemians.”

So has Meite noticed any areas of the Gypsies’ defensive play he thinks he can exploit?

“They are a strong side but I feel we have enough players who can penetrate any team in this league. If we just take our chances and keep a clean sheet we can come back with the three points.”
