McCready's extra-time strike dumps holders Trojans out of McAlinden Cup

THE McAlinden Cup first round clash between Park Bar and holders, Trojans certainly lived up to its pre-match expectations on Sunday with the game decided in extra-time.

Darren McCready netted in the first period of extra-time after the match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and that goal was enough to see Premier Division leaders, Park Bar progress to the quarter-finals.

Elsewhere in the competition, Terry Kelly Memorial Cup champions, Top of the Hill Celtic defeated Tristar 3-1 to reach the semi-final stages and keep alive their chances of a cup ‘double’.

Colm Logue’s Celtic side are more or less ruled out of the title race this season, therefore they will be expected to make a huge push for the Blue Riband title. They were knocked out of the competition at the quarter-final stages last season so they will be delighted to have progressed to the last four.

And in the league campaign, Lisahally defeated Oxford 5-2 to ensure back-to-back victories.
