The Tubbercurry native netted his 71st strike for the club in the 3-0 win over Longford Town at the Showgrounds last weekend as Sligo finally got their campaign up and running.

Kenny Shiels expects Cretaro to be a real threat to his side’s perfect home record tonight as they welcome a Sligo side who appear to have turned the corner.

And Sligo manager, Dave Robertson, is hoping the 3-0 romp over Longford will give his side confidence going into tonight’s match.

“The focus this week has been on ensuring that the win at the weekend was a starting point for a season and something to build on,” said Roberston. “We want to use that win as our foundation and build on it.

“It was a real relief for them to get that first win under their belts. We can see that the team is evolving every week.

“Our understanding of each other and our link play is becoming better all the time as we learn more about each other. We are getting much more rhythm to our play. Hopefully, this is the start of an upward curve for us which can continue.

“It has given us a lot of confidence. It doesn’t matter what team we are playing, we have to treat every opposition with the same respect. We are playing a team in second looking to go top and we will be going into it with the same approach.”
