Actors required for 1916 Pageant

The organisers of this year's Gasyard Féile are currrently seeking actors of all ages to participate in a major street pageant to re-enact the events around Easter Week 1916, culminating in the the trials and executions of the Easter Rising leaders.

A spokeserson for the organisers commented: “This will be the biggest re-enactment ever staged in Derry and will be the highlight of this year’s Gasyard Féile and of the year-long commemoration events to be staged throughout the City.

“We are inviting actors and, indeed, citizens who may wish to participate to come along to auditions at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, Great James Street, this Saturday, February 27th between 12.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m.

“The cast required will portray personalities as diverse as leaders Pearse, Connolly, Clarke and Markievicz to British Army officers, nurses, priests and civilian citizens.

“Whether you are a serious actor or would simply like to take part as an extra, we would encourage you to come along this Saturday to find out what part you could play.

“We look forward to seeing you for the auditions,” added the spokesman.
